PLANNING COMMISSION NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The City of St. Augusta Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on Monday, October 28, 2024 at the St. Augusta American Legion, 1894 247th Street, St. Augusta, MN 56301, beginning at 6:00 pm.
A public hearing will be held for two items:
- Adoption of the 2024 Augusta Comprehensive Plan that sets goals and policies that will guide future growth, land use decisions, and public investments in the city.
- Zoning Ordinance Amendment- Adopt an entire zoning ordinance to replace the existing zoning ordinance. Primary changes include:
- Converting the previous paper copy of the ordinances to a digital copy
- Incorporating previous amendments
- Updating and consolidating definitions in one place at the beginning of the zoning ordinance
- Converting the Permitted, Conditional and Interim Uses by zoning district into one table
- Compiling the processes and procedures into one section
- Consolidating over a dozen zoning districts to 3 residential, 2 commercial, 1 industrial and 1 public/institutional districts
- Eliminating the “Rural Service” and “Urban Services” designations but identifying location where Rural Residential would be considered within the Agricultural land use designation
- Updating performance standards for clarity and public users and to reflect current state law
- Adding Short-Term Rental ordinance
- Reformatting lot and building standards for zoning districts into easy to read tables
- Making grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and formatting corrections
- Incorporating Stearns County’s wetland, shoreland and floodplain ordinances by reference
Both the DRAFT 2024 Comprehensive Plan and updated zoning ordinances will be available at City Hall and on the City of St. Augusta’s website: www. staugustamn.com.
All interested parties are invited to attend the hearing and be heard on these matters, or submit written testimony prior to the day of the hearing.
